The experience was good, instructor was friendly and instructions was clear. Though the time spent in each spot is pretty short but overall everything was good! Food was ok only - esp if u are a picky eater so do bring snacks in case food isn’t to your liking

The guide at each station is different. Someone will deliver it to the fixed point, and then someone will bring a commentary, which is very special and very comfortable. The impression is very deep. The guide has let the fireflies fly towards us, but don’t expect too much to see the proboscis monkey.

Full day trip

In the morning, I participated in snorkeling on Mermaid Island, and the water was clear. I saw proboscis monkeys in the mangrove river tour, but the number was not a long distance.

I enjoyed the Kawa Kawa River Cruise and the rough 20 min ride going to Mantanani Island.

Very nice and interesting

The mangroves are very large and large, with many fireflies. I have seen proboscis monkeys and long-tailed monkeys.

Worth the day trip

Mermaid Island has a beautiful environment and can snorkel in two locations. You can clearly see the proboscis monkey with your own telescope. The shuttle bus is very dangling and you need to bring your own motion sickness medicine.

The beach was beautiful. Went with 3 of friends. Please be expected that you might be the only non-Chinese. Most of the time tour guide will speak in Chinese. Kinda felt lost at times. Skinny tour guide was helpful, forgot the name. Even tho he forbid us to take off our life jackets in the water. No fin provided. It’s like our first experience snorkelling with no fin and must to wear life jacket.

The tour was as described. The agent promptly contacted us a few days before the tour and supplied information about where and when to wait. Everything was taken care of professionally. The island is paradise! You must visit!!

Joined Kawa Kawa fireflies before so I just joined Mantanani snorkeling. The boat trip to the island took more than 30 minutes from Kota Kinabalu and the journey itself was exciting due to the big waves in the sea. We saw fishes and corals at the two 2 snorkeling points in the middle of the sea near the island. The island was beautiful.

The boat trip take to the island take about 45 min. Because of the wave ,this boat trip just like playing roller coaster. I took motion sickness pill before which it is not included. The island was quiet with less than a hundred of people. The water is clear like glass. After a short rest on the island, you will be back on a boat to go snorkelling. Two chances of snorkelling, which is also suitable for people who do not know how to swim. Snorkelling gears and life jackets keep us safe to have fun.

Too short and not professional, food is bad and our seat arrangement is too bad for us

boat ride getting back from the island can be quite rough - be prepared. otherwise very nice! saw lots of fishes and fireflies flying onto my palm!

Fun and exciting. The water is so clear! Staff are funny and helpful. Fireflies and the stars are really beautiful. The tour guide help us take good pics.

very well organized and experienced tour guide

I never experienced such a super bumpy boat ride to the destination island. The ride was horrible and the snorkeling sea water current wave is too strong. After the first snorkeling me and my husband have seasick and they don’t have any medicine at all.

The island has fine sand but has lot of garbage. need to rehabilitate it for a while and have the government enforce strict garbage disposal. For snorkeling, there are lot of beautiful fishes. December is not ideal though due to weather and big waves. nonetheless,it is still a beautiful place to visit.

We took thousand of Picture in every sports of attractions!!! Every place is nice and eye-catching! The Tour Guide Edwin also taught us how to take a good photos！??

I enjoyed the snorkeling activity, they provided us snorkel mask. Our lunch is managed buffet and there's plenty of food - veggies, chicken, rice, seafood and fruits. Mantanani Island is beautiful and perfect for instagram post. We are able to see proboscis monkeys and I was amazed with fireflies watching. They also served simple snack - tea & biscuits but the managed buffet dinner is just okay. The guide is friendly.

Love at first sight! For fireflies alone, it is worth to fly all the way to Kota Kinabalu! Nothing can be more magical than seeing all those amazing fireflies sharing their delightful beauty and light for all the world to see! Truly unforgettable!

The sea is Tiffany blue while the Undersea world is pretty good. Staffs are friendly and the cruise is romantic. Sunset is enjoyable.

Awesome! -The tour is well-organized, the guide is friendly and funny. -Mantanani snorkeling is the most amazing experience for me in Sabah. The coral reef and school of fish are magnificient. One of my unforgettable experience is when I snorkel with the fish swimming around me. -The minus point is lack of bathroom, I have to wait for nearly 20 minutes for my turn. -The food is just average. -The Kawa firefly cruise is good but there're not as many fireflies as I had expected. Generally, I rate 5 star for this tour. Good value for money?. You must give it a try when visiting Sabah

Suggestion for visitors Pls check with your tour guide again about the pick up point and time. We have been waiting for 20 mins. I called the tour guide and he said the travel agent gave him another pick up point. So if I didn’t call the tour guide, maybe the tour guide would think we are just no show and left. For the trip Worth a visit. The island is very awesome. The tour guides are very nice and interesting. We had a lot of fun.

Good contact ways that the tour guide has contacted us a night before and opened a Whatsapp group with other participants. Friendly tour guides. Though there are some sudden time length change, it's still a nice Snorkelling experience. Food is fine but the eating place got many flies worsening your eating mood.

The trip was fun and the guides were nice. The trip would have been more efficient if the group is smaller. Overall, the trip was well arranged. Food was great and land travel was comfortable. Boat rides were good especially in spotting the endangered monkey.

The services are excellent. The tour guide is great and helpful. It was a fun experience. The transport arrangement is nice as the area we stayed is covered in the free transport area. The sea water quality is very high. You can see a lot of fish and coral (although some are nearly dead). It's worthwhile to book the trip. One thing concerning is about the photo taken by the coach. It's much better if they have the service to send back to the photo to us. Before the night boat trip, the tour guide brings us to another side to see the sunset. It's really pretty there. You can pay MYR50 to ride a horse. The people will help you take very nice pictures. For the night boat trip, it's really hard to capture the Proboscis Monkey. You need to pay full attention. For the glowworm, if you really want to take pictures of it, you need to get a really nice camera. You will waste your time to enjoy the trip if focusing on how to take pictures using the phone.

The trip to Mantanani was okay. The guide, Wan Cheng was responsible to take care of everyone. I would expect there are more info / explanation during the tour. The island is so-so, to be honest, comparing to the islands in Sabah (there are many Chinese tourists on Mantanani, the other islands are much cleaner with less people there). Snorkeling experience was average as well, cos there are not much to see under the sea, just some tiny fish. For the monkey boat trip, treat it as a normal forest boat trip would be fine. We were lucky to see ONE long-nose monkey from a far distance. Still thrilled to see it. The fireflies boat tour was the best itinerary item among all. The starry sky and fireflies scene were magnificent. Strongly suggest to sit on the left side of the boat and probably the front part. Cos you may have a greater chance to witness the views. The guide will attract the fireflies to fly closer to the boat. For the food, acceptable, we don't have any expectation on that, honestly. Anyway, the trip was a bit exhausting, but yet content and worthy enough to spend a day to experience all those.

Highly recommend this remarkable island experience in the perfect weather day! We booked the tour the day before and the itinerary was exactly as described (snorkeling & river cruise). Our tour guide sent us a list of items that we should bring along and some reminders the night before which are very useful. Our tour guide is a true comedian. He brought a lot of joy to everyone at all ages (youngest at 7 and oldest at 80). Our tour guide, driver, captain and the crew are all very experienced and well-prepared especially when it comes to snorkeling. We saw a lot of marine life during 2 sessions of snorkeling. We weren’t able to see the Proboscis monkey during the afternoon river cruise but we ended up seeing enormous amount of fireflies during the night cruise. It was so magical because this is my first. I also like how they consistently reminded us to put on life jacket when we hop on the boat multiple times during the day.

The tour guide fetch us from the hotel at the agreed time and we took off to the jetty. It was so amazing to see the colour of the water at the island and the food was really good! Local friends from Sabah told that the package from Klook is much cheaper than the outside ones

i would say is really nice experience for snorkeling at Mantanani island, and the guide is funny and helpful , Thank you Mr. Shark. the lunch was okay, but the dinner is too stingy. I would say Mantanani Snorkeling is worth to go, but for kawa kawa river cruise have to be reconsider. nothing much can be seen, proboscis monkeys is hiding during our visit. Fireflies in the night was awesome, but very few of them.

Very enjoyable tour. Was picked up on time and our guide Lee was great. He was very helpful and animated. The snorkeling experience and the firefly cruise was totally amazing and I definitely want to do it again. The only downside was the large number of people in the tour group, it meant a lot of waiting time when it came to boat transfers and meal times. The lunch and dinner was just okay, not that great. But the snacks were enjoyable. Also did not see any monkeys during the afternoon river cruise. Overall, it it a tour worth taking especially if it is your first time in Sabah. ??
