Half-Day Tour from Taichung: Gaomei Wetlands and Rainbow Village

This is the first activity I did right after I arrived Taiwan. I’m so glad I did this first because it’s not a tiring activity and I get to stroll a little with even relaxing view.

Did a full day tour as the pickup location was more ideal to where I was staying. Overall, the tour guide was very insightful and could speak English, Chinese and Japanese so it doesnt matter which option you pick for language. I chose English but the tour guide still spoke to me in Chinese ? Something Klook could consider, is to shorten out the time at the shopping mall (Park Lane by CMP) or scrap it completely as I apart from having lunch, there was essentially nothing to do there. I suggest more time at the National Taichung Theater instead. Other than that, everything was perfect!

The weather in Gaomei Wetland is too cold and I ca n’t finish walking. I think it ’s a waste of drivers.

This 1 day tour is interesting and the tour guide gives good detail explanations of the places of interest we went and the driver is very considerate and is a safe driver.

It was a fun, knowledgeable tour. Special thanks to Mr Chi (Apollo) he explained very well during the tour. Highly recommend to join if this is your first time to Taichung.

good half day trip to Rainbow Village and Gaomei Wetlands. Adequate time for Rainbow Village as it is pretty small place. Gaomei has relatively more time as there is greater area to explore. Guide is great and friendly. always attempt to make things fun for everyone.

Rainbow village was very small. Can be done in 30 mins. Gaomei wetland was beautiful! Especially with the sunset. I went on a day with really good weather so it was really beautiful. The tour guide was knowledgable, good English and Chinese speaker.

Is a nice tour with a nice tour guide. It's cheap compared to call for a Uber to Gaomei Wetlands.

Pickup was on time, guide was friendly, attractions are lovely! Enjoyable trip in general. Just that dont expect the guide to explain too much about the culture etc because i saw that the guide had to speak in mandarin, english and Japanese to cater to the entire bus which is made up of tourist from SG, Philippines, Malaysia, Japan, Thailand etc. Recommended to go on the tour!

Productive day

Since this was a half-day tour, we decided to visit the flower farms first in the morning. Using an uber, we were able to arrive at the 2nd stop just in time for the tour guide's roll call. The tour guide was very responsive on Line, so we were able to make it with the tour - we were running late for the first stop but we managed to get to the 2nd stop with the tour guide's guidance. The Rainbow Village was a fun place to walk around in, and it's quite small so it's easy to roam around quickly. The wetlands was such a wide and windy area, we could have gotten further if we did not take too much time taking pictures at the entrance hehe. Pro-tip: wear slippers if you wish to proceed to the wetlands further.

Overall, tour was okay as it brought us out to Gaomei, which was far and worth the travel. However, the bus was late after miyahara, lunch and the theatre. We waited 15 mins for the bus after lunch. (Tips: Fengchia night market was quite underwhelming. If you're staying near taichung train station, recommend you just get the bus to drop you off at your hotel. The cab back from Fengchia was ard NT250.)

I went on the tour mainly because I wanted to go to Gaomei Wetland but didn’t realize how far it was from the city. This tour was great in terms of providing the transportation for some of the places that are further out and more complicated to get to on your own. It’s also a really good price!

It was a well planned route with more than enough time at each attraction. Very enjoyable and much more affordable and convenient as compared to public transport/ taxis.

Mid-Day Taichung Tour

Fly to Taipei in the morning, and you can take part in a half-day tour of Taichung in the afternoon. recommend!

Went for the half day tour and definitely enjoyed the trip! We had plenty of time at each attraction and the sunset at Gaomei Wetland was really beautiful. Just remember to bring a windbreaker as it can get quite chilly with the strong wind.

Travelled via tour bus to the main attractions in Taichung. Enjoyed sunset at Gaomei wetlands, which was about 1 hrs drive. This tour provided us with an easy way to travel there with a reasonable price.

My friends and I got the half-day tour. It’s really good and we all think that we got our money’s worth from the trip. We were picked up at the National Taichung Theater (we were given some time to roam around the establishment and I have to say the architecture is nice and I really like how it’s not only functional and practically made to adapt to for various seasons but also the art behind it). Our tour guide’s name was Angel and she was really approachable and entertaining; she gave everyone a lot of tips for traveling in Taichung and cracked a lot of jokes. I really appreciated the tour to the Rainbow Village (it was very beautiful!!! we were given enough time to roam around here and take photos) and Gaomei Wetlands (unfortunately, we weren’t able to watch the sunset here, w/c we were told is very beautiful, because of the season/weather).

The guide and tour leader were very accommodating and friendly. They waited for us for around 15 minutes and escorted up to the bus station going to high speed rail. Will definitely recommend this to our family and friends.

The trip was amazing! We get to experience half day tour covering the spots in Taichung! Though i must say the time spent in each spot is too short and we felt a little rushed going from one place to another. Some other spots there are too many people and since we have a very short time, we were not able to fully enjoy it. Probably will be back but will go DIY.

glad that we signed up for the trip as its raining and journey is pretty far to Gaomei Wetland. the guide is friendly and able to share some details on the places of visit. good mix of places for half day trip. excellent value for money.

A good time indeed. Overall is great. Time management is right and appropriate. Shout out to the tour guide, she is professional and knowledgeable, and she can communicate well. As well, she is knowledgeable on the many aspects of the tourist spot.

Kudos to the tour guide and driver. We thought we were gonna miss the train back to Taipei. But they were very considerate to us making the drop off at TRA Taichung station. Thank you for the hassle free tour at Taichung. It was a very wonderful experience.

Wonderfully organised tour which went to plan, starting at the National theatre, moving onto the Rainbow village, Gaomei wetlands and ending at the Fengjia night market. We were lucky to have been blessed with the perfect sunset, and we’re given ample time to take photos and enjoy ourselves. Our tour guide was also very caring and introduced the locations thoroughly on the bus ride.

I would recommend that the guide should explain further details about the destinations and not just the name and some details. I would like to know more about the history behind it. Because the guide was translating from Chinese to English and i noticed the Chinese part is far more longer than the English translations. I could sense we are missing something. But anyway, the tour was awesome and the bus was comfortable. Water is also provided.

Took the half day tour and it’s exactly like what was promised. Pity that it was cloudy the day we went and could not see the sunset at Gaomei Wetland. Enjoyed the tide coming in.

The tour guide is very engaging and speaks fluent english and mandarin. She would call you up to check your location when you're not there.

Good experience and it’s better to take tour if you plan to go Gaomei Wetland because public transports will be very troublesome for you.

I just have a Half day, so it is very convenient for me to join in this tour. I love the sunset at the Gaomei wetland. The beautiful house at Rainbow village and the Opera theatre were also very amazing!

Very good tour guide. Great explanation for locations in both Mandarin and English. Gave us time to take pictures and even took pictures for us. Also, gave great recommendations for what to try to eat and buy as souvenirs. Perfect tour since we got to see a sunset at the Gaomei Wetlands.

Despite the rain, we managed to visited the arranged sites except for the National Theatre which is closed on every Monday. Alternative park visit as the replacement was not impressive. Fortunately the rest of the attractions are still available for visits.

I should say anyone who is coming to Taochung should go for this! The view is super amazing and mesmerising. We are very lucky to able to view the sunset and the weather is super nice. Love this!
