We purchased standard tickets and didn’t have to wait long midweek in early October. We’ve been told, however, that queues can be brutal on the weekends any time of year. Funiculars run every 15 minutes between 8am and 8pm and every 30 minutes between 6:30am-8am and 8pm and 11pm. Yes! You can go up after sunset (though sunrise/sunset special rates are only applicable for Malaysian citizens). The ride only takes a few minutes each way. If you’re keen on hiking around the hill, there are special Local trains that will drop you off at the various stations in between Lower and Upper station.

Amazing tour, big kudos to our guide G-shen who was fantastic and really made the trip outstanding, plenty of time to wonder around the beautiful Kek Lok Si temple, then up on the Penang hill railway for lovely walk and awesome views, do this trip especially if short on time!

Mr Ong is a great tour guide ...very informative as it was a hot day Mr Ong supplied us with umbrellas and bottled water gave us time to enjoy all the sights

Nicol · 27/02/2020

The guide didn’t have a microphone so we couldn’t hear his commentary over the engine noise. The tour is 2 stops. 1 to the temples & one to Penang hill. Cable car tickets were included but not entry fee to The Habitat. We needed more time to visit Penang Hill. The guide doesn’t accompany the group at the stops. Would have been less expensive to get a taxi. The sites worth seeing.

Kek Lok Se was the highlight of this tour it was amazing. Ended up being the only two people on the tour so had the van to ourselves. The Thai and Burmese temples were a nice touch at the end.

suzanne · 25/02/2020

Nice trip at Penang. The driver helpful us. Thank you

Wilianto · 24/02/2020

our tour guide was very poor. He literally just dropped us and didnt show the places as advertised by Klook

navindran · 16/02/2020

The driver was on time & very professional following the itinerary and providing useful information... especially the fast card for the funicular train saved a lot of time & provided good seats

Emily · 15/02/2020

Tour guide was so so. It took ages for the Penang Hill cable ride to go. Not much to see on top. Once is enough, for the experience.

sabrina · 13/02/2020

The driver was friendly and helpful, the car was in a good condition...there was a great experience

Fransisca · 12/02/2020

Tour was overall good and convenient. Must try in Penang.

Angela · 26/01/2020

The driver has arrived 10mins and contacted us upon his arrival to our hotel. He is a funny and polite person with very good knowledge of those attractions. There were only 2 of us on that day so he gave us a lot of flexibility on how we want to spend our time at different spots. The timing was just right and we had the priority tickets for the Penang Hill which saved us a lot of time. It's a great experience overall.

WING HANG · 20/01/2020

Ong is really great driver. Very informative and looks after families very well. We will definitely use the service again. Make our Penang trip the best trip in our overall holiday. Thank you

Lin Lin · 17/01/2020

Penang Hill is a very nice experience! You will go uphill via train and it's my first time to ride that particular train with a unique mechanism! Be patient as it will require a minimum of 20mins at the line to go up but the view is fantastic!

Gashmere Prisca · 16/01/2020

Lovely hassle free door to door transport. Driver will carry your bags for you which is a plus point :)

Si Wei · 12/01/2020

The tour was very nice. The driver and guide was knowledgeable. Enjoyed it

Yash · 10/01/2020

Train ride is the best about this place. It is the steepest railline in the world, and the view from top is truly breathtaking. Lots of activities to do on the top of the hill as well, for which you have to pay there seperately. Pleasant weather and colonial buildings to see.

Pericherla Ashok · 06/01/2020

Contacted by local agency through email and given contact details of the driver and vehicle number. Juz basic drop off service to the attractions, but we ended earlier than stated time so driver did suggested a few more places for us to explore. Overall not bad experience.

Hui Min · 06/01/2020

Great tour..!! The driver was picked up us on time. He's very nice and friendly. He can speak English very fluently, so easy to us to make conversation with him. We start into the Kek Lo Si Temple and spent around 1 hour there and directly going to Penang Hill. In Penang Hill we got the fast lane ticket for the train, so we don't have to wait for queueing...??

Evi Hari · 04/01/2020

Good tour, helpful driver and nice to have it all sorted

Joel Antony · 04/01/2020

The experience was awesome!!! The driver Ong was good n kind. He gave us lot of information, kept checking on us . All good about would recommend his service. About Penang hill .... Awesome . Funicular train takes you to Penang hill.the train is again a very good experience. Breathtaking views from the hill. It is pleasant , cooler than city. There is good food court. You come back on train again . Then drive to kek lo si temple. It was fantastic divine experience. There is so much to see there but less time ... Would have loved it as full day experience . The temples have lot of Chinese goodies shop and for Offerings to temple. You can buy colourful ribbons with wishes in English and incense sticks, also tiles for temples they will write your name with blessings for RM 40 onwards as your offering . Lovely blessed experience

Reena · 02/01/2020

Kek Lok Si Temple was beutiful - Ten Thousend Buddha Pagoda and a statue of Kuan Yin. Fast line to go Penang Hill was very clevel idea.

Ulle · 31/12/2019

the first half of the tour was really good. we got fast track tickets up Penang hill and had an amazing time up there. we then went to kek Lok si temple (a Buddhist temple on a mountain) which again was really good. we were then told we would go to a batik, coffee, and green tea 'factory'. none of these were factories, they were just shops selling overpriced clothes or drinks in the hope of ripping off tourists. we were then offered to go to the upside down museum which we declined and asked if we could go back to our hotel instead as we were only interested in the hill and temples. not what we expected when the itinerary on klook said we would be going to three temples and Penang hill. if you do the tour, spend as long as possible up Penang hill, we only stayed an hour because we thought we'd be going to more temples but we definitely regret that. we would add photos of the 'factories' but we weren't allowed to take pictures.

Elisa Janine · 28/12/2019

Driver was flexible. However, I’m not sure if it was meant to be a free and easy tour. He fetched us to the destinations and left us there. Asked to meet after a period of time??

Shimin · 27/12/2019

Good experience, driver was knowledgeable, courteous and punctual. My first experience with klook and went well

shomika · 27/12/2019

On the day itself the driver, Michael was punctual. There is no tour service for us. He dropped us off at Penang Hill and gave us our Fast Lane tickets. THE fast Lane tickets are extremely important as the lines are insanely long esp during holiday season. Make sure to keep track of your own time. We spent too much time at Penang Hill doing the canopy walk and abseiling and by the time we finished it was already 5pm, since booking ends at 6pm, the temple was closed and he sent us back to the hotel.

Suprat · 25/12/2019

Good tour guide and pleasant trip. Kind and helpful to elderly.

Yoke Muan · 25/12/2019

Worth seeing whilst in Penang. Be sure to do the early session as it gets very hot in the afternoon.

Christopher · 24/12/2019

The tour guide was very informative and showed us the Penang hill and the Kek lok si temple. He also took us to a shop with authentic tea and coffee and chocolates made exclusively in Malaysia. it's worth a visit. and the views from Penang hill were spectacular. If you are in Penang plz do not miss this tour.

Bhavna · 22/12/2019

experience the key sights of Penang in one package. fast lane was super useful to skip the hour long queues to and from the top of Penang Hill.

JIA YAO JAMES · 21/12/2019

A stress free trip to cover 2 destinations: Kek Lok Si and Penang Hill. Managed to skip the Long queue with fast lane tickets provided by this tour. However, we didn’t manage to take up the walking trail at “The Habitat” (will take at least 60 mins to cover the canopy walk leisurely) Generally speaking, it has definitely saved time to cover both places within 3.5 hours.

Tan · 20/12/2019

Our guide did a terrific job on our tour. He helped us see every stop on the tour and led us to a shopping area that matched our interests with the remaining time. In addition, he was quite patient with our younger children, which we greatly appreciated. I would recommend him, and his company to other visitors to Penang.

Frederick · 19/12/2019

The tour guide picked up us on time. Just my friend and me in this tour. Lucky us! The Temple is good. And the train is so amazing.

Steffy · 17/12/2019

I think there are no huge different between the driver you will get from here and grab. Grab provide much cheaper price. The driver did not went to places with us, just drop off and pick up.

Thatchanont · 17/12/2019

It was a great experience and totally worth it. A must see in penang. Spend more time at kek lok si. There's more to see at the magnificent architecture of the temple.

Denise Germaine · 10/12/2019

Gorgeous view of Penang from the top. Beautiful statues of Buddha in the temples. We wrote well wishes on the colourful ribbons. :) A serene place amid the hustle and bustle of the city. Thumbs up!

Joo Leng Jeffrey · 10/12/2019

Our tour guide, Robin, was very punctual, friendly and chatty. We went to this tour on a Saturday afternoon and the roads/attractions were crowded. So I would recommend going on a weekday preferably. The Kek Lok Si temple is an impressive complex of pagodas/houses with a huge number of Buddha statues. The location provides a very good bird view of George Town. Penang Hill offers an even better view of George Town. A fast lane ticket for the cable cars is a must on weekends, as there is easily 1hr of queue in the normal lane. Robin later took us to a shop specialised in coffee where you can buy some souvenirs.

Melanie Tchin Tinn · 17/11/2019

We took the half day tour on 10 Nov via Klook and a very friendly driver (KT) brought us to Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si Temple. In the car, he told us about Penang and its’ development over the years. We took the funicular train up to Penang Hill which took only 4.5 minutes to get up there. We also went to the sanctuary to see the peacocks and some other birds. Next destination was to Kek Lok Si Temple where we could see the Goddess standing high up. We took the inclination lift (RM$3) up to the temple. Overall it was a short fun trip. ???

Poh Fong · 15/11/2019

Trip was fun and driver Jeffrey was friendly and informative, given us many insights about Penang not just the temple and Penang hill. Journey was smooth and we enjoyed the ride very much. Advice to get the express ticket for Penang hill if you are are going up during the public holiday as the normal lane queue is extremely long. The habitat ticket price is not included in the package hence need to budget for extra cash if you are planning to enter. Overall it is worthwhile to join Klook tour!!

Elvina · 28/10/2019

The driver arrived a few minutes earlier and informed me via whatsapp. The tour was great and the driver was friendly. He tried to explain most of the tourist sights.

Henson · 26/10/2019

Our guide, Norman and driver Ronnie were early. Norman gave me a short summary of history along the journey and brought me to have the famous Penang Laksa along the way. Thumbs up!

Gek Hong Lynette · 14/10/2019

Our tour guide is kris. He is helpful and knowledgeable. He is always early and be there waiting for us. Recommend to use this activity if you are first time in Penang.

tay · 24/09/2019

Penang Hill was a very refreshing part of our stay in Penang because of its cooler weather. Plenty to see and there are scheduled guided tours when you get to the top. The tour guide from Klook will just drop you at the entrance, I thought he would go to the top with us but he was still helpful nonetheless. The Kek Lok Si Temple was a very beautiful sight! We booked the Explore Georgetown tour on the same day and we got the same tour guide/driver. He ended up going with us throughout the day and we toured with a very flexible schedule. It was like we rented a private car, a driver, a tour guide, and a photographer, all in one!

Elaine Mariel · 20/08/2019

Great tour and guide by Ronnie. Along the way, Ronnie shared much interesting facts and history about Penang Hill and Kek Lok Si temple with us, making the tour itself more alive and fun. Penang hill is cooling and seems like there are new attractions, but they may need around one hour to tour. So you may need to decide if you have enough time to visit the new Penang hill attractions.

jiahao · 12/08/2019

Called Grab from town centre to Penang lower station Penang hill-took the train to the peak takes around 5mins but long queue on Sunday, spent around 25mins. The train is clean, stable & safe. Habitat is a nice place to visit, worthwhile visiting. Great view, must visit the tree top walk, can see the whole Penang & even Thai & Singapore There are some food stalls & cafe but food/drink choices are limited, suggest you bring your own food& drink, you should be able to spend 3 hrs there. Temples-love the place, feel so relaxing and peaceful Tour guide, Ronnie, super great guide, good English he can share so much of Penang to you, history, geographic etc. He is a very funny guy too ? he took us to try the best durians at local price, fantastic taste.

Hoi Yung · 01/07/2019

we need to re-arrange a few things, but finally we got this tour completed. we take the train to the hilltop, and explore the skywalk with very wide and high view. then we visit kek lok si temple with the big statue and pagoda.

setiadi · 06/06/2019

The driver, Sam is punctual and he is very friendly. He guides us for our day trip to Penang Hill and Temple sightseeing. Will definitely recommend if you are in Penang.

JIANMING · 12/05/2019

actually I want go there penang hill because of famous traveler spot in penang. we ordered for 3 persons, and they pick up us on time at the lobby. and use one car for us. I was excited. I am very recommended this tour for who dont like join full tour. Penang hill is okay, but Kek lok si temple is very stunning and super huge.

Heidy · 20/08/2018

It was a real good pick for me. The driver was at my hotel on time and reported at Hotel reception. Driver was so nice and guiding us throughout our trip. The tram to penang hills was included in our package which has saved our time to stand in queue. If you are solo traveller or couple, this will be a perfect and cost effective pick for you. Thanks Klook!!!

ABHIK · 28/06/2018

The tour was great and full of information about local area. However, I was a little bit worried when I don't get confirmation after 24 hours. and when they didn't agree with the meeting point, they didn't contact me for further confirmation. Hopefully they are able to contact whenever doesn't agree with the meeting point. Other than that was awesome. Thanks
